“Hey,” Shark said to Kink who was wiping the bar down.

“Brothers,” Kink smiled and shook his head. “Before you ask, she isn’t on the schedule for the next four days, she just came in to get her check. Figured you were going to take a few days off before you jumped in, though.”

Blade nodded and looked at Maxi who was still serving a waitress. “Yeah, was going to, but there is only so much time you can spend looking at your four walls. Things are sorted, and it’s time to move forward, so when this shit’s done, we’re ready. Creed and Fork said they would fill us in, hated that we were in Washington when that shit went down. How is Raven doing?”

Kink sighed and leaned against the bar and frowned. “Angry, and pissed off, to be expected. He’s going to stay with the Furies, for the time being, said he needed distance, and really, I get it. He is reeling, fucked up in the head right now. Until we get this shit sorted with Nevada, he is going to continue to be a mess.”

Blade shook his head. “Fucked up what they did to him, even more, that they are still doing.”

Maxi walked over to them and smiled and said, “I guess I know what you’re talking about. Did you hear Jas is coming home?”

Shark nodded and said, “Yep, Shady is already planning on how she is killing her mom. Rebel still in the back?”

Kink snorted and shook his head. “You guys aren’t subtle or anything.”

Blade leaned back and said, “We have some questions for ya, some things we are wanting to do to the bar, but don’t want a lot of overlap here. Which is why we came, checking on our woman is something of a bonus.”

Maxi nodded and said, “Not sure she’s gonna agree she’s yours yet, I have a feeling Rebel is gonna be harder to claim than even Shady was. Hell, Cajun and Slider still have the scars from that shit, just giving you a heads up, make sure you have a steel nut cup. Now then, I have everything in the back office ready for you. Creed and Fork already figured you would want some of the numbers and contacts we’ve made. The bike shop already has a waiting list, this place is packed all the fucking time, so yeah, pretty sure you aren’t going to have too many problems attracting attention.”

Shark laughed and said, “Well, we’re not going to have sweet ass bitches dancing on our tables.”

Kink smiled. “Brother, these women seriously rake in the tips, we got lucky with them, and honest to God, Rebel is like a mini Shay. She has men lining up to sit at her table when she’s on. You are seriously going to have your hands full.”

Blade looked over his shoulder, his eyes sweeping the back entrance then said, “Where is she?”

“Not here, brother, she took off, out the back I might add, which seems a little strange since she saw you guys walk in. Thinking you may want to chase that sweet little ass down since she seems to be somewhat skittish. When you catch her though, we all have bets on the real color of her hair, figured you two would be the men to find out,” Maxi said and then looked at Kink who was shaking his head. “What?”

“Fuck, Sofia is gonna kick your ass, man, and if she calls her parents…”

“Fuck, stop threatening me with that shit, you know that the guys have all been talking,” Maxi snapped and shook his head. “Rebel is gorgeous, but I like my dick where it’s at. Which is why I said, they would need to be the ones who found that shit out.”

Blade smiled and shook his head. “Shit, what the fuck makes you think we’re going to tell you anything?”

Kink shook his head. “‘Cause you are dumbasses like the rest of us and will want to share. If you give us a hit, we will split the pot with you. I hope she talks to you more than she talks to any of us, though, the chick can dance like no other, but when it comes to answering questions, she is like Fort Knox.”

Shark snorted. “So far she hasn’t been real talkative with us either, only surface shit, but that is gonna change real quick when she realizes we’re in this for the long haul. Last time we saw her, said she had a bad track record with men, which is why she said she wouldn’t go out with us. But that shit is about to change. Now about those papers.”

Maxi nodded and looked at Kink. “I will take them back. When Mag comes in bring a few beers and come back.”

“Don’t forget, we have church in less than two hours,” Kink replied, and the three men stopped where they were and nodded.

“Don’t worry about it, we’ll be there,” Blade said, and then he looked at Shark. “Then we’re going to find our little runaway and see what the fuck is up with that.”

  “Hell yeah,” Shark said.

Creed and Fork looked over the room where they held church. The place was full, which satisfied them all, because one, they were all going to need to be on their game, and two, they needed the numbers. Unfortunately, they were still going to need men, and that was where the Furies and Black Hawks came in, the assholes just didn’t know it yet. The Black Hearts were coming, they knew it because Shady’s mom was more than pissed off about her weird fucking lover being killed, and she wanted Jas. That was not going to happen, ever.

Since moving to San Diego, they had wanted a new start for the Ops. While their compound in Nevada had been awesome and made them more than enough money to never need to work again. But it had served its purpose as a small desolate town they’d needed at the time to heal. Plus, Creed called it home for many years, but now San Diego was home, and they were going to fight to defend it.

They knew the Furies were with them, hell, they were their neighbors, and the Black Hawks, Creed thought and grimaced when he thought about the kid he and Fork picked up yesterday. Trey Ellis was the nephew of one of their members, his mother, Caroline, was a club whore who had moved clubs several times until finally settling down with a loser. The kid had gotten mixed up with the Vipers before they had all gotten killed or run away, and ended up in jail for taking the wrap for the club. Dipshit had no clue what the fuck being a member of a real club was about. He had a chip on his shoulder, and honest to God, Creed and Fork already wanted to knock it off. The trade would be even when all was said and done.

Creed shook his thought off, he would deal with the kid later. They had decided to offer him a position as a prospect to the Ops. They would have to see if he was worth the effort. Something told Creed he was, even with his shitty attitude.

“Okay,” Creed said loudly, and all the guys quieted down. “The Black Hearts are on the move. Fish called this morning to let us know. And he is on his way, just a warning, apparently learning he is gonna be a grandpa has made him change his mind about relocating. So right now, he is going to be bunking with the General, but that will be the last tie to Nevada.”

Creed and Fork looked at each other and Fork shook his head. “Fuck Nevada, seriously, man, this is gonna be a long nine months with Harmony.”

Easy and Poke groaned, then Slider and Cajun slapped their hands against their forehead.

“I think they planned this shit, all three of them being pregnant at the same time, I mean seriously, what the fuck?” Easy snapped, and Poke nodded.

“And already wanting weird ass food, what the hell, Free ate an entire jar of jalapenos.”

“Okay ‘cause really, you guys have it easy, man. Shay is a mean bitch on a good day, I swear she almost cut my dick off when I told her she wasn’t going to be able to ride her bike soon,” Cajun said, and then he pointed at Kink. “And get your woman under control. This whole, natural childbirth shit is not gonna fly. I am not going to those fucking classes.”

Magnum leaned forward and said, “Then you should have learned how to use a condom, man.”

Creed held up his hand. “We can drink and bitch later about our women.”

“Holding you to that!” War growled. “‘Cause of you assholes, now Rain is all about wanting a kid.”

“Who is going?” Poke said hopefully, raising his hand and pointing to himself.

“We aren’t sure yet. Shady of course is out, and she is pissed off about it. So right now, she is the one in c
harge of choosing.”

“When will they be picking up Jas?” Kink asked, and Creed turned to him.

“They’re leaving in a few weeks to get her, Shay’s mother has also made a move but since we have Slick and the General who have been following her and monitoring her contact with the Black Hearts. Right now, they’re not talking, like at all, everything is quiet, which means they already have a plan. Slick is trying to track how they’re contacting each other, but so far, nothing.”

Stone growled and said, “I heard there are a few of those assholes in the area, though. Not sure them being so close is a good thing right now. They could be moving faster than what we think?”

Fork nodded. “Yeah, one of the Furies called a while ago, said there were a few Black Hearts close to LA. However, it was only a few, not the whole club so I would guess they are still moving slowly, sending this group out ahead of the rest.”

“That is as close as they dare right now. We knew they were going to bring the fight to us when we went back. I thought we would have a little more time, but apparently not. So, we need to plan for extra security for the shop, Bitches, and the compound, which is going to spread us a little thin considering we have some men out there,” Creed said.

“The women at Bitches 2 are going to need protection as well,” Kink said, and Creed nodded.

“We know where they live, we can also set them up somewhere if we need to,” Fork said slowly, and Maxi shook his head and looked at Shark and Blade who were sitting next to him with a grin.

“I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Rebel’s not going to let anyone protect her. Plus, if she even gets a sniff of there being trouble, I can guaren-damn-tee it that she is going to be all over that. Have you seen her arsenal? I mean shit, she makes Shay look like a girl scout, and that is some scary shit, man.”

Shark cleared his throat, “We are going to take care of that.”

Creed frowned and looked at Maxi and then Ice. “How did you see her arsenal? I mean, I’m sure Sofia would love to know this as well.” Slider laughed.

“Not cool, man,” Maxi said and glared at him. “She was locking up her bike before shift, and I saw her stuff, she doesn’t hide it. Hell, she packs it in her saddlebags like a change of fucking clothes. Brings it in, locks it up in her locker and then when she goes home, does the reverse. I am telling you, I have never seen a woman packing so much heat before.”

Blade leaned forward. “Brother, we told you to look after her, not LOOK after her.”

Maxi threw his hands up. “Shit, you are all being assholes.”

Shark smiled and looked around the room, “Damn it’s good to be home.”

Blade chuckled, “Yeah it is. Now, just so you all know Rebel is our business, you have an issue with her, we will deal with it.”

Creed nodded but looked at Data. “Her background check come back?”

Data nodded, and he said, “Sure did, I already gave a copy to Blade and Shark because they asked for it. She’s from another club in the southeast, the Blood Eagle MC, never heard of them, have you? Anyway, her father is the President, I called a few people we know, rep is solid, they are into bookmaking and shit. Anyway, I hate to say this, she is the Princess of the fucking club. Not only does she know how to take care of herself if anything happens to her because of our shit, pretty sure we will be answering a lot of questions.”

Shark nodded. “Last time we were here, we asked Rebel about her parents. She told us she grew up in the club and didn’t lie about shit. Also asked her about how she came to be here. She said she was just traveling around the country, ended up here, heard about the Lady Riders, which it sounds like she is really interested in. Met Freedom and Harmony when they were at the Harley store buying baby shit. Chatted with them and found out about Bitches 2.”

Blade interrupted, “She also was a little hesitant to talk about whether her father knew what she was doing and the Lady Riders. One thing I do know is that when Shark and I checked a little deeper on her by calling some people. There is a rumor, which we have not been able to validate yet, Shark and I were going to when we talked to her away from Bitches. Anyway, they say her mother was killed by a club who was robbing their clubhouse.”

Shark leaned forward. “We are not sure, but they say it was the Black Hearts.”

Creed leaned back and looked around the room. “This could be a problem.”

Blade nodded and said, “Or it may not. Could work in our favor if it’s true, the Blood Eagle may be able to give us some backup as well.”

Creed looked at Fork who shrugged and then he said, “I will make some calls.”

Shady looked around the room, and she sighed. “Ladies, I hate to say this, but we have a serious fucking problem.”

Freedom paused while eating her jar of jalapenos and said, “Shit, what now? I mean, come on, it’s like we have a damn cloud over our asses.”

Harmony snorted and shook her head. “Just saying, getting knocked up couldn’t have happened at a worse time.”

Freedom glared at her best friend. “Really? We are giving the gift of life here, there is no bad time for that.”

Bob laughed loudly as she held her little princess. “Afterwards I would agree, Free, but getting this little bundle of sweetness, was a pain in the ass literally. And don’t let Boo tell you any different, labor sucks donkey dicks but taking your first shit after giving birth. Fuck, I thought I was going to be split in two.”

Boo frowned and shook her head. “I explained how you need to use…”

“Yeah, Tucks, and stool softener, what you didn’t say was they wouldn’t help all that much,” Bob snapped, and Boo shook her head and opened her mouth.

“Can we discuss something other than bowel movements?” Rain grimaced and looked at their leader.

Shady rolled her eyes and nodded. “Back to the matter at hand. Okay, here is the issue. Jas will be coming home, finally, and when that happens, we all know there’s going to be an issue. She is going to be pissed right the fuck off. Plus, my mother, there is no fucking way I will be in the background when that bitch is dealt with.”

“Not sure how you’re going to get around that,” Harmony said and looked around the room.

Shady grinned and then said, “It’s time for some new blood.” She looked around the room at her friends, her best friends, they had been through some serious shit together. Hell, most of the shit grown men could not deal with, but not the Lady Riders. They dealt with everything together, that was the way it was when they opened their business of helping women and children who were abused and needed to disappear. It may sound harsh, but sometimes that was what was needed. For a long time, they didn’t have a name, none of them wanted one. Now they called their program Broken Wings, and they loved everything they did to help women and children escape their world of pain and abuse.

All of them were committed, but with all the shit swirling around, they had to work off compound for certain things like housing their clients who needed help. Which caused the operating costs to be high, not that it was a worry, they just needed to pay attention. However, now that no one was allowed on the compound, they had adjusted their security as well to incorporate the clients staying in hotels.

Right now, there was nothing they could do with that side of things. Jilly, who was Treat’s sister, and her man, Boony, who made all the papers for the women and kids to disappear and start a new life, were taking care of Broken Wings. The rest? They were preparing.

“Yeah,” Shady said slowly, and she grinned. “I have a few suggestions about that.”

  Chapter Two

Rebel shook her head as the wind whipped some of her long hair into her face. If she didn’t love the color and the length so much right now, she would cut it off. But since she had been eighteen, Rebel had dyed her hair blue. Always the same color, but she used to wear it short. Now, she wore it long and curly. She was tall, skinny-ish, and muscular. Most looked at her and saw a badass, and they would be right,
she would never back down from a scuffle.

She should have told someone where she was going, but it was too late now, she was almost there, and if she found the Black Hearts, then she would deal with it from there. Rebel knew the long shot she was taking right now, being in the open and making sure they knew she was here. But she was only looking for one man, one, and when she found him, he would die by her hand. It was what she spent the last few years of her life chasing, revenge.

Thinking about the two men she had snuck out and left, Rebel wanted to kick her own ass. They had been doing this dance for weeks. At first, she thought there was no way they were interested in her. Hell, not that she didn’t have confidence, she had a shit ton of that, no, she seriously thought because she was a dancer they would look down on her. Only want her for sex. But then she met the Lady Riders and found out about them, and suddenly she realized the guys didn’t give a shit. Dancing was dancing and after hours belonged to her.

So Rebel had proceeded to talk to them, sit at their table when her shift was over, just having a beer and flirting a little. They flirted back, but still, they hadn’t made a move, so she figured they weren’t interested. Then one night she walked right by them and was on her way out the door when Blade had caught up with her. He had backed her into a corner in the entranceway with Shark following them, and Rebel had been shocked, especially when he had whispered so seductively into her ear.

  “Where you going, Rebel?”

Rebel had been shocked, “Uh, home?”

Shark had maneuvered to her other side and whispered, “I thought we had a date?”
